The Myler MB 06 is a viable alternative to a mullen bit, offering a low ¾" wide port that provides sufficient elevation of the tongue to swallow but not cause palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, this bit applies pressure mainly to the bars and lips.
- Independent Side Movement
- Stainless Steel Mouthpiece
- Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
- Copper Inlay
- NOT Dressage Legal
The MB 36 tongue relief is an upgrade from Level 2, but lower porting means less than some Level 2-3 mouthpieces with higher ports; the tongue remains partially obstructed. The MB 36 will provide more tongue relief with relaxed reins, however more tongue pressure is generated when reins are tightened.
The addition of the hooks to the cheek make this a more versatile version of the eggbutt without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheeks. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece (if available). Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces.
The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (attach with two curb hooks). Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot will fit standard ⅝" bridle leather.
